I think it probably first came into english football from foreign players/managers who would say something like 'we are in a difficult moment', which isn't quite right but you knew what they meant. But then for some reason it's become one of those buzz words that even 'geniuses' like Gary Neville use.
We're in a difficult moment, we need to RESET.

Yes, 'philosophy' is another of those fluent but not native language things.Unless he was being incredibly pretentious, what he meant was 'plan'. But as has been said, it gets picked up by the pundits and becomes and epidemic.
I'm still not over 'the football club' and the 'golf shot' and suchlike. Yes, I know Liverpool FC play football and I'm pretty sure Tiger Woods isn't playing cricket at Augusta.
